I'll be honest, I usually don't really like the traditional documentary format. It can feel so slow and bloated. I was ready to hit that 1.5x as soon as I saw the length, but then I just got so sucked in. This is a REALLY quality film, the pacing is just as dense as a normal Wendover video

damn, I thought this would be boring and ended up finishing the whole documentary.
176
I watched this on Nebula, It is genuinely one of the most insightful and emotional docs I’ve ever watched. Thanks Sam and Wendover crew, I hope we get season 4 of Extremities eventually.

Just finished this, wow this was incredibly eye opening and depressing.

Having seen this on nebula, I'd recommend everyone to watch this in its entirety! One of the most relevant conversations that will be had over the next 50-100 years is addressed in this documentary. Also a very beautiful location! An excellent documentary and I look forward to see more such content on nebula and YouTube.

Sam, I’ve been watching your videos for years and wanted to finally say thanks. Keep doing what you do, and please give an update on the extremities channel too. You inspired me to go to school for multimedia journalism, so you’ve literally changed my life. Thanks!

This is one of the most well made videos I have ever seen. Good job, Wendover. Keep up the good work. I do not "like" many videos on Youtube, but yours always get one from me.

Proud to say I've already watched this on Nebula. Love the content you make and glad to see how much Curiosity Stream is working with you on stuff like this. Hoping for season 4 of Extremities to be announced after the last episode.

A lot of commenters seem to think the solution is simply to reduce car use and encourage walking and public transport, That's fine in and off itself but for the majority of people that is simply not an option, in cities public transport can work well, being in the country it would be impossible for me to do my job if I had to wait an hour for a bus to take me to somewhere I can catch another bus to catch another bus to get vaguely near where I need to go and walk half an hour to get there to visit a client and then do the whole thing in reverse, a three hour visit now could be more than half a day on public transport. Far more useful would be reducing the need for car ownership, self driving could reduce the overall car numbers to a third simply because the cars won't need to sit around doing nothing for most of their life.

Even though I wouldn't have the time to watch anything this makes me want to get that subscription just to support you guys

This was powerful. It forced me to take a hard look at what my country has done to the world, and the fates of those who were affected. It's not an easy watch, but if it was, it would be ineffective. Thank you for sharing this story with us.

I don't have 46 minutes rn, I'll watch it next decade

Watched this on Nebula about a month back. It is breathtaking. I cannot stress more on how important it is for us to save content producers like Sam. Subscribe to Nebula. It is worth every penny you will put in. Go for the CuriosityStream bundle if it is still available.

Thank you Sam, it's a beautiful but sad documentary!

Stunning documentary. These people deserve better, but if all goes wrong, I can only hope that the struggle they faced and the fight they're fighting they will remain a part of the cultural heritage of those who survive, rather than being a footnote in the pages of history. Every world leader that refuses to make serious change, and every citizen that elects them (where fair election is possible), has the blood and the tears of the Marshallese, and every other current and potential climate refugee, on their hands.

This is so good.

Great work. I really wish youtube would improve it's monetization formula to ensure that educational creators are fairly compensated. I did sign up for Nebula, but it is next to unusable with my internet connection and old hardware. I'm stuck with youtube because, on it, I can adjust the resolution to reduce buffering time and the platform itself is less data rich. Nebula with my setup takes forever to load. What's worse is for where I live, I make decent money and can afford cable internet, even if it is slow. Most of my community cannot. At best most are working with spotty 4G hotspots from their phone. What I am saying is that the best educational content migrating for free youtube, is depriving from the people who need it the most.
