  9. I am from Czech Republic and I can tell you this: Russia has lost well over 20 milion people to be able to liberate Europe. If Germany would not have attacked Russia, than my parents would most likely die in gas chamber and I would not live now. USA and Britain would not have had any chance to liberate whole of Europe, because 95% of Hitlers´s huge army died when figting Russia. Without Russians history would be very sad and 100% different. That is why I hate rusophobia and NATO too. BTW , NATO leader(USA) hit Germany last year..Nord Stream. What a disgusting leader. NATO is stinking to me, not Russia. Ukraine war is due to USA´s greed to stick it´s nose right on Russia´s borders !!! as well as due to Ukraine´s army which killed 14000 russian language speakers in Donbas since 2014.

I think Russia take extra effort to make this city great because not only people in Mariupol but from other destroyed towns/villages need accomodation and Mariupol is the best city to make example of that Russia actually care for the people, also I'm sure that Russia has economical plan for Mariupol

  30. I have previously lived in Russia (almost 20yrs ago now) and I was in Ukraine multiple times between 2018-2020. I was never there pre-Maidan. The "vibe" I got from Kiev was very negative and disturbing. Right Sector flags everywhere. I spoke Russian to everyone who didn't speak English and I was never harassed about it, including in the airport at passport control. I occasionally had people give me a look for speaking Russian or they would reply in Ukrainian. But everything felt "off" about the place and the news channels were like DPRK levels of stridency and "literally every problem we have is Russia's fault." How the hell could that be true in 2018? Kharkov got more and more "Ukrainianized" every time I went back. More people in military uniform. More recruiting for Azov right on Freedom Square. But I always spoke Russian in that city and everyone responded to me in Russian. But this insanity, this refusal to acknowledge basic realities that I know all Ukrainians can see right in front of their eyes ... what the hell is this? I was ready to accept that Ukrainians wanted their own national identity, fine, but why try to take away all rights of Russian speakers when most of the country speaks Russian as their native language? Now I am suspicious of anything I see resembling the Ukrainian flag. I will not trust anything a Ukrainian says anymore. This makes me sad, but it isn't Russia's fault. They spent 8 years doing this to themselves and nobody knows where it will all end. Finally, as an American taxpayer, I am furious that we have given over $100 billion of money that the citizens of the US have to pay out of their pockets, money which is stolen directly from our salaries, to fund this insanity! Enough is enough.

  40. As an American from a Missouri farm family and community, I've spent a lot of time in Ukraine. I like to call Odessa my second home. Lots of my expat friends in Odessa were always vehement russophobes. Never understood why they bothered to come to Odessa because it was Russia that made that place. From it's beauty to its warts. My own experiences there have been great for the most part from the people to the markets to the architecture to the sea. I've also had the good fortune to go to Lvov, Kiev, Crimea/Yalta, Nikolaev and Kherson. And I've also been to Russia: Moscow, Tula & Rostov Veliky. I really like the overall culture. So now that we have a war, effectively a civil war, I am pained to see all of the death and destruction. I'm not really for either side. But if I was Putin and the west took the actions it did in Ukraine from 2014 on I probably would have arrived at the same conclusion. My only question is why were so few troops used? I believe Putin and his military have operated with extreme restraint. This makes things extremely difficult for his troops as they have to endure the extended time they will now spend in the field as a result.
