Hi Bruce, congratulations on your Scania 144-530. I have had several of them when they were new, the one you have there is the first model 144, you can see it on the front grill, it is not the same as the red one you have, it is with it (new muzzle), in a Scania 530 V8 you don't have to use all the gears, empty tractor you can start in 1 high and high split and switch to 3 high low split and then in high split, then you will find that it starts howling and out of the exhaust pipe, when you skid gear, when you can make it howl when you change gear you can drive Scania 530 V8, you can try searching here for Scania 144 530 v8 straight tube, then you will see and hear how a 530er should sound when can drive in them. you can check the serial style number on the left door, it's the long number you need to look at, it should say 530 or 460 in the middle of the number, you can see how many horses it has 530 hp or 460 if it's a 460 hp it doesn't howl when you change gear as it runs with a different turbo. so good luck with it and see if you can get it to howl when you shift gears.👍

I was YELLING LOCK IN THE POWER DIVIDER at my computer while you were trying to get out of the hole , it would have helped if you hadn't cain sawed the line LMAO please don't kill that one , those are getting very rare , and unlike the other truck , that one has good bones , if you slapped virgin rubber on it , and fixed what was needed to get through a DOT inspection , your only looking at 5k if you go with Chinese tires , and would have a nice truck , or you could go the used tire route for the drives and new on the front runners , and come in at far less , but whatever you do , if your gonna use that truck , buy the front runners brand hammer new , you never want to experience a steer tire blowout in a semi , the main issue is most are run on the governor on the hwy , and upon a steer tire blowout , the fist step to keeping control is to accelerate sharply to regain control , then slow it down ... no joke about that , if anyone wants to call BS on that statement do some googling , it is fact ...anyways if your on the governor you can't do it , and that's why I hate and cuss every single trucking company that governs their fleets under the posted speed limit , because every driver they have runs them on the govner , it's not safe , not to mention they make road hazards running under the posted speed and where it takes then 5 + minutes to pass another truck while running 10mph under the limit causing bumper to bumper traffic for 20 miles behind them ... ok enough ranting , but am I wrong ?

Really happy to have you back Bruce, I know I’ve commented on all your other videos that you’ve posted so far, but I like this one the best. you’re really getting back into the flow of things too. I could tell you were pretty rusty on the first couple videos , but now you’re back in the swing of things just like you were before. You picked up kinda almost where you just left off.
It’s really great to see and be honest in that downtime you really got yourself together, so maybe the probation thing was a blessing in disguise! you know what I’m saying, you had your son , and now you got another bean in the oven! you got your businesses up and running great

sometimes Things happen to us that seem to be the worst ever and I can see that when they told you you couldn’t do YouTube videos anymore ,it was really a kick in the balls. because it’s like your subscriber base was growing so much and so quick and the momentum was right there.
that’s like somebody in the music industry who has a whole bunch of hits and doesn’t continue on and they become one hit wonders because they’d stop dropping the music and stop becoming relevant.
But you were able to pick off right where you left off ,and continue on and we missed you buddy . good to see you back congratulations on the son and the one on the way ! congrats to you and your brother with the businesses and blessings to all you the whole family.

ABOUT YOUR TRAILER BRAKE PROBLEM
IN 2009 I HAD THE SAME ISSUE, FIGURED IT OUT AND IT WAS FIXED
I'm posting here in hopes you might see this without getting lost in the comments. I hope this helps you!
I was in a 2004 XL Classic, no modifications except a drop axle. Pulling only and always a brand new 2009 4 axle, extendable container chassis. It had ABS and helped us understand the problem. The reason I didn't get flat spots is because the ABS would keep kicking of the trlr brake. But let me tell you, the surging it did, drove me F'n nuts. I eventually cut that out of the wiring.
The term that was said to me, is "crack valve pressure". It was me who eventually discovered the issue, once I knew more about how the system works. The techs all treated me like the dumb truck driver.
I don't claim to know every detail of how the air system works to apply the brakes, but but I do have good basic understanding of it.
Crack vale pressure refers to the pressure required to start to open the brakes air distribution valve. My trailer's valve was starting to open at 4 psi, while the truck's valve was starting to open at 7 psi. This created the same problem that you are having.
Now this makes sense if you really wanted to control you braking in ice/snow conditions. But if you are a light footed in braking (I am) or gently riding your brakes down a hill, than you are using a lot more trailer brake than the rest of your trucks ability. Because your trailers brake valve is opening first and further. This in turn causes your trlr brakes to build excessive heat, which in turn causes your drums to expand, which leads to your slack adjusters to tighten even further (to compensate for the bigger drum diameter). Once the drums cool off and shrink, your brakes are now to tight. The one wheel that would occasionally stop/drag when you did the free spin in the air is a warped drum. This can happen when the drums are very hot, and then cool with the shoes putting pressure on the drum. I suppose this problem could amplify if your trlr's drums are smaller diameter than your trucks. I never pulled a trlr that had much smaller tires/wheels than the truck, like your stepdeck.
Old timer told me once never set the brakes if you got the drums really hot, it will egg shape the drum..
I hope this explains it well enough.
The fix for me was to get both the truck and trlr valves to open at the same time. So we had a new valve put on the trlr buy pushing it thru the warranty.
I don't know much about your truck. I only today, discovered one of your videos and caught a random comment by you about your trlr brake issue. Then watched a few more videos of you discussing it. And it is exactly like my issue.

Thanks Bruce, you're one top gizza. Keep'em vids coming, I luv'em. Most of my time, only drove DAF's. Been in a Scania 144 400+ (not too sure, of exact horsepower), for about, 14 months, a few months, in a Merc Actros & a Volvo FH (currently, a Volvo, since Nov this year). Always been a Scania fan, particularly the V8 & the longline with all that live-in free space, but as of yet, still never, never got even close to a Longline, let alone ever touched one (don't see too many of'em, here in the UK), cos' of overall length regs here in the UK, plus client location, tends to be impossible with a unit, of such a size, thus, you'd miss out on work.👍👍👍👍👍

I live in the UK, and follow some of the HGV drivers over here. And majority, if not all, HGVs have microwaves in one of the overhead lockers (usually front and on the passenger side). Also, at their own cost, some of the drivers have powerbanks, so they can plug in their laptops, tablets, tvs, etc. Some HGVs also come with TVs included. My brother used to drive Scanias. He used to work for ASDA, which is part (or used to be) of Walmart. Glad you enjoy it. Also, by lifting up the rear wheels, it also saves on wear and tear of the tyres

I’ve got 3 kids, and have been married for 13 years this November. Back in September, my wife, and my 2 boys were in a head on collision, my daughter had just been dropped off at school. My wife spent 3 weeks in hospital, still trying to recover, kidney removed, completely reconstructed ankle, and shattered arm. Will probably never be 100 percent. My oldest broke his arm damn near in half, and ankle. Youngest boy collarbone and rib. My outlook has changed since then. Less phone time, less work time. Always choose family dude. I may not have back then but I sure will now.

Congrats on your first pull. I was involved in it for years myself, in the Super Semi classes of the NTPA & East Coast Pullers Assoc. Just FYI, with regards to your referring to the "Jet" powered tractors...they're Not "jet" engines.... they are Turboshaft engines, as used in Helicopters, Turbo-Prop Aircraft, Turbine powered gensets, Ships, etc., though, the majority are from helicopters (many are military), and the Lycoming T-58 is very popular.
Turbshaft engines power things by shaft hp & torque, Not by thrust, as Jet Engines do.
Basically both the same, but the Turboshaft engines generally only have anywhere from 1 to 5+/- stages of compressor stages which are made up of a Rotor & and a Stator which partially converts high velocity into high pressure with each successive stage (depending on size & desired amount of SHP / Shaft HP), whereas modern Turbojet (military) and Turbofan (military & commercial) can have anywhere from 10 to 15, compressor stages to build high thrust, plus afterburners for additional thrust capabilities for military aircraft. There's actually Two variants with regards to how internal flow pressurization is produced, 1) is a Centrifugal Type, and 2) is of the Axial flow type.... but that's a whole other topic. It's almost all standard what you see in European trucks, so yes....... Technically, we are a lot further ahead than the American trucks. We drivers are also used to more and more improvements being made, and the driver is certainly better thought of in terms of seating position, overview, consumption, layout, comfort, etc. Air suspension is standard, or the buyer would like leaf spring suspension (construction) but that is hardly applicable. and as Bruce pointed out about the rear tires, those are standard tires, not those bike tires that are so narrow.

Very anxious to see how much abuse that 6nz can take. Being only a 14.6, it can't dish out what a 15.2 would BUT,,,, you got this thing for so cheap I'd be giving it a run for as much as it could take too.
If you can though, for a future build or a backup....... find a 15.2L and "" de acert "" it. Best/strongest is an MXS 15.2L. Stuff 16:1 packs in it, the 800 cam, hot boy ECM and pin it all to work and that's a platform you won't ever grenade. The Acert heads once " de acert " work is done are leaps and bounds better too.
PS..... Full Tilt 3 piece manifolds are the bees knees. Not bashing anybody...... Not trying to damage any relationships,,,, but..... PDI manifolds and hardware are known for failures. Studs stretching, breaking, manifolds warping, but maybe that's different in the pulling world where they're only hot for just a short while instead of all day long every day on the big roads.
Give Full Tilt a call sometime though. Their manifolds and hardware are top tier. Solid reputation too.

I wrote the first comment without watching the whole process & now I'm writing this after I finished the video. After this kind of amazing & satisfying manufacturing process, If the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration doesn't allow Scania in the United States, there isn’t doubt that this country is corrupted! I’m sure the challenge won't be easy to bring back Scania in the United States. Especially companies like Volvo already lost the battle in Europe & they don't let that happen on US soil again! So, I will expect them to bribe the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration CEO. But no matter what, none of the US truck companies can produce a very safe, fuel-efficient, powerful & luxury truck like Scania! I came from aviation school & now I'm driving a semi-truck! I’m a very safe driver, with a clean driving record! I have driven a Volvo, International, Freightliner, Kenworth & Peterbilt. I swear to the Almighty God, none of them are convenient to any humankind! I knew Scania when I was in my home country, when it comes to comparison, by far it is the best & most convenient truck in the world!

Delivery drivers and truckers keep it all moving... but it all plays into the construction/carpenters... the food delivery guys... the beer and soda guys... I mean damn its endless. Any type of a delivery driver is America's hero. Those UPS, FedEx, and Amazon delivery drivers work hard also. Supply and demand is real...
Everything comes off a truck and/or trailer. I don't do Over The Road anymore, only local soda deliveries M-F , But I do respect all the truck drivers that put in those miles and hours... dealing with truck stop parking, time fueling, time navigating, and time just trying to make the best decisions on map, gps, delivery, breaks, sleep, time, dead ends, low bridges, traffic, construction zones, Idiot drivers, no parking zones, terrible places to deliver... and etc. The everyday truck driver goes through alot of BS. Company vs Owner Op. has its differences, but Its still truck driving.

Civilly (is where you get your money back) whoever sold you the machine is responsible for full reimbursement for what you paid for machine plus what you can prove you spent on it. Are they responsible for your YouTube losses? Probably not, but what you have spent on repairing machine they are. I know it sucks, but a Bill Of Sale only protects you from being charged with possession of stolen property and gives you a leg to stand on in a civil trial. Unfortunately, this happens daily in the US, people sell items they have zero right to sale. Might be because they stole it or they just got tired of it sitting around on their property, but it's not theirs to sell. Yes, it was junk to one man, but original owner still owns it no matter what condition it is in. Reasonable thing to do is to have seller contact original owner and they pay him to shut up. If he pushes it, by law you will lose the machine. I had a family here in NC buy a truck from a man who had the title. He forged the title and they bought the truck. The family fixed the truck, added some really nice upgrades then tried to get it registered. I got a notice from the DMV someone was trying to register a stolen truck. I was ordered to seize the truck and return it to the original owner by a judge. Owner was ecstatic because it was fixed and had some really nice additions. Original ownere didn't have to give anything back. The unsuspecting buyer was out the money, however they sued the seller and won all their money back plus the money spent.

Hi Bruce. Polishers who have great technique make the job look easy. I really like your videos and I commend you for your tenacity. I get your frustration with a guy not being reliable. I'm a all around, do it all type of self employed "one man gang" who also relies on help "showing up".
The most common mistake anyone new to polishing makes is, (moving on from an unfinished work section). If you go back and study the footage of Iceman polishing your tanks, you'll see him, for 1, giving the machine and polishing wheel more time to get the work done. For 2, you'll see him advance to a new work section but you'll also notice that when he does move the cutting wheel up to his next section being cut, that he is overlapping a bit into each previous work section. Overlapping by 25% into your previously polished section, ensures the even, perfect looking finish as you move along. Our minds sometimes work against great technique. To slow down and get the area you're working in completely finished before moving into the next section, is actually speeding things up. Instead of cutting twice before moving on to your polishing steps, slow down your left to right buffing wheel travel speed, giving the wheel more time to cut, concentrate on overlapping your new working section into your previously cut section, and like someone else mentioned, get a 5lb. Bag of all purpose baking flour, pour it in a clean, dry bucket, toss a couple rags in there and try wiping your black aluminum work section with a flour covered rag. You'll be amazed at how efficiently it'll remove the black residue that's left behind.
Keep up the good work and also note, you can apply these same technique principles to your painting projects.
