  4. I must be a bad parent because I only got $150 worth of gifts for each of my 4 kids. I feel like getting too much always backfired. Whether it’s an explosion of clutter or a bunch of toys that they won’t even use. In the end, all the stuff will end up trashed or at the goodwill. I rather focus on free or low cost experiences. Time is the one thing most people want more off when they’re on their death bed, not stuff.

  9. As a single woman, a lot of these financial audits put marriage into perspective for me. A lot of these couples had no business being together as their values, goals and/or finances were not aligned or probably were ever going to be. I’m happy I can take notes because I want an equal partner in all aspects especially financially. That’s our livelihood and I worked way too hard for someone to come in and throw that off track. Thank you for your show btw, young people need it. Using real life examples makes a big difference in understanding what to do and what NOT to do!

  12. Hi Zac! I'm the person featured in the CNBC interview! Thanks for filming this reaction video, I'm a fan of your stuff. Thought I'd add some things: 1. The mall was never "completely vacant;" retail on the first floor was always pretty vibrant, but it lagged on the second and third floors. The apartments were added in 2013. 2. I pay more than $800 for my place but I pay waaaaay less than the average apartment rental price in Providence. I can afford a much more expensive apartment, but I was attracted to the compact design and the amenities in the building. 3. I have an electric induction cooktop, a slow cooker, a rice cooker, a blender, a toaster oven, and a microwave. I can absolutely cook in my place, but I'm not making Thanksgiving dinner for ten people. 4. I ranted against the AirBnBs during filming but they didn't include it in the interview for obvious reasons, lol 🤣 I find that it's a security risk for the building and it means that these apartments aren't permanently housing locals who could really use it. I'm not a fan. 5. I actually used to live in North Carolina too, and while I loved it there, I hated the car-dependent culture. I was willing to pay more for a walkable neighborhood in a city center with arts, culture, and transit. For me, the Arcade is perfect! Thanks again for the great vid! Looking forward to more.

  17. I was going to drop out of high school so they put me in a Co-Op program half school and half work. We had classes in budgeting, writing checks and professional mail, building a resume, going through a job interview, etc. It was amazing and I thank my lazy teenage self for that invaluable opportunity the AP kids didn’t get.

  27. the best way to stop over consuming is to start reading the ingredients in the things you are buying (food, skin care, hair care, etc). once you start seeing the crap you are consuming and putting on your body, you will start being really picky about what you purchase.

  28. Gambling is crazy to me, especially if you think you are going to come out ahead. Steve Wynn who built modern Las Vegas had a few insights on gamblers. He has never once seen a gambler win over the long term. in his entire career. He also had a quote about casinos "The Only Way to Win in a Casino is to Own One". Well, almost no one will be lucky enough to ever own a casino. Anyway, I don't know where I am going with this besides gambling is crazy and is never a winning strategy long term.

  34. My grandson is in his senior year of high school and he told me they teach personal finance. He is taking the courses. Maybe it’s different down in the states, but they should teach it even sooner like to middle school kids. I’m so happy he is being taught this very important life skill.
