Iām doing my summer hw and I forgot how to make an introš¤£

If Ramsey Snow would have pursued a career in literature instead of torturing people xD

Could you please, move 5 km away from the camera Thank you!

I'm currently facing the challenge of writing my first (extensive) theatre analysis for uni and watching some of your videos has been really, really useful. Keep doing what you're doing.

One can see the smartness in his eyes. Disgusting! Just kidding, thank you for your work!

Hi Tom, Yay! I am happy that I found your channel. I've been looking for this such technical sharing. Good to know how other people doing in 'technical' part of PhD like organising journal articles, reviewing literature, note taking, writing research paper, etc. Not so many people share their methods and I'm glad I found yours. Just subscribed and looking forward for more updates! cheers

Please keep the music out of these videos, theyāre extremely helpful but I find the music to be very grating. Iād much rather just listen to your voice! Other than that, keep up the good work

This was really informative and you're so charming!

Thanks Dudley Dursley!

Writing on Kane's Blasted for an exam at university and I've got to say this video has been far more insightful than any of my lecturers take on it! Thank you for the great summary and analysis, super useful :-)
27
All great tips. I work as a writing tutor at my college, and I see so many essays that start with just a vague statement about the topic "Blank is a very important issue in our society." Might have to use this video in some of my sessions to give students some options!

Heās not too close to the camera, maybe yāall are too close to your screen š§

I agree with you that Tony Kushner is probably in the running to be our greatest living American playwright. Certainly the play holds up even after decades. I disagree totally with Kushner's concept of God withdrawing from his creation. A Catholic response (which happens to be my faith tradition) advances the idea of a God who embraces suffering to oppose and triumph over sin. While I have no argument with his political analysis. The question I ask is what kind of a society do we have that allows two such men as Roy Cohn and Donald Trump to rise to power?

Thanks this video really helped me out

Thanks for taking your time to share with us those awesome note taking methods that makes learning very easy and enjoyable. Thank you

sooooooo many thanks to your sharing! I feel so lucky that I found your channel at the beginning of my senior year! This is life-saving!!!

This is such a quality and interesting video. Thank you so much for being so informative in a capturing manner that makes me love this play even more. I would love to see more videos like these. I also really love how passionate you clearly are about dramatic literature, it's really a great thing to see.

My second time watching this video to refresh my mind in part of my journey in searching academic literature for my new research. Helpful as always!

Thank you for your good work, I am going to start my essay with your tips.

This is a very interesting videoā¦ I'm so glad I stumbled upon it! I actually just saw a touring production of Hamilton today, and have been thinking about the subtle differences from the performances of the Philip tour versus the original Broadway cast and the videos that I've seen on YouTube. Of course these actors put their own flavor onto the role, but you're rightā¦ The patrons including myself come to see Hamilton based on what we've heard about it, on the album, and with some expectations built in, so over all we are happy to see The show that we expected! That saidā¦ As you can well imagine, I am not from New York and I don't have a big background of seeing live theaterā¦ So I probably don't have the same appreciation or expectation that a diehard or hard-core musical theater fan might with regards to variations in performance. Still, it is an interesting concept and will keep it in mind...thanks!

You are an adorable human! Thank you for all the tips!

Writing an essay on Blasted right now and this has been a huge help. If only my tutors could articulate these ideas in a similar way. Thank you!

Loved this video, and love Epic Theatre. Keep on making these videos Tom, I feel like I'm learning a lot that I wouldn't have known otherwise!

Cool video! One thing I would like to add: I have the impression that the UK is less familiar with postdramatic theatre, partly because of itsĀ strong literary/dramatic tradition. In Holland, Belgium and Germany, however, I would say that the postdramatic theatreĀ actually forms theĀ basis ofĀ mainstream theatre making. Even in performances you couldĀ label as 'dramatic',Ā you can still see a lot of postdramatic elements that Lehmann describes in his book.Ā VeryĀ interesting (though difficult) book in my opinion, as it separates drama from theatre and expands the notion of what theatre can be. Ā Keep up the good work! ;)

you look like Ramsey Bolton

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your videos!! Your videos are really helpful. They are concise, clear, and relevant for starters in research like me :)

Such a fantastically informative video! Thanks so much Tom! I found this highly useful as I'm writing my dissertation on Angels in America, having fell in love with it after a quick google search of America's most famous plays haha. I was wondering, did you find any sources particularly helpful in making this video? (eg. books/articles on Brecht's epic theatre?) Thanks again! Keep up the great work xo

This was tremendously helpful. Thank you!

Thank you so much! Can you please do a video for beginners? Like how to narrow down your topic, start researching, readings, publucations, etc.

Got exam tomorrow... helpful

Fab video. I think this is so relevant and SO apparent in the current MT industry. When working professionally I found it increasingly frustrating how new talent was expected to "fit in to the shoes" of the previous actor playing the part. It feels like there is very little room for creative input from the performers in the process of rehearsal when commercial musical theatre is being produced. I would go as far as saying all "well paid" jobs are prescribed with little wiggle room for artistic licence - something that is very frustrating when you have crippled yourself financially simply to "unlock your creative potential" at a high end drama school... *sigh. I think its down to the fact that people want to spend their money on something that they can get satisfaction from and by buying into a brand you are in the comfort zone of satisfaction. Personally I don't think that is what theatre is about. Leaving a theatre hating a production but having a meaty chat about the piece is so much more constructive than "well that was fantastic!" - "Yeah, well we knew it would be" Why are theatre companies doing this? - look at who owns these productions. MT is becoming another branch of the Hollywood tree, a cash cow with a worldwide audience willing to throw their monies into the pot to distract themselves from progressive independent thinking. I hope I don't sound too cynical lols.

Concise, Creative, and Explosive. Thank You

Excellent delivery! Cery clear, articulate, and good pace. Bring down music vol a touch (and vary). Perhaps open with an overview of the video's contents (thread of key ideas). Perfect conceptual level. Use of paper effect fantastic in overview of dialectics. Keep it up! You're great!

Enjoyed your discussion. "Angels' has been a center for me as a gay America since the first time I saw it. I think it's important to note that according to Kushner interviews, the Angle was a hallucination for Prior more than some sort of realism as was Ethel Rosenberg for Roy Cohn. I wonder how many Brits have seen the HBO series . The cast is really beyond wonderful. Kucher also did the screen play adaptation for it...six hour long segments.

Thanks man. I was lost. This video brought me to the grownd. I'll be coming back for more tips.

Just the video I need for my on line Masters program's 2nd week. Because I'm not use to doing paperless research, this will help me come up to speed with acquiring articles quickly so that I'm not wasting a lot of study time. I'm so glad to hear about "Google Scholar". The 1st article I searched for in my school's database was on available to professional association members, so that was a drag. I'm hoping this video will lead to quickly accessing university articles too. Thanks for posting!

Thank you for the video! Clear clear and informative, I can tell you are a great teacher! You have a new subscriber!

Excellent video. David Suchet does the American accent perfectly. Is the full production available on video?

It would be better if there is no backround music

This analysis is fucking amazing

Thank a lot Tom, I am doing my master thesis by using onenote and google keep. I organized articles according to my thesis topics .I gather about 45 article, now thinking to read and take notes each of them š seems too much time and effort !šš¤That's a long way, wish me luck !

Thank you, it was very instructing, I really liked your analysis :)

The excellent tool I use every time is Zotero. More than amazing.

So happy I've found your channel š

Brilliant. Curious to know which writing software do you use to write your thesis? Pages or Word?
4
I have room in my heat for both. I certainly was blown away by John Doyle's version of "Company" very different and for me more exciting than the original. There are more I could list like this one.

Thanks for the analysis. I am yet to see part two but I also kinda fell in love with Kushner. Still annoyed that Hampstead cancelled my performance of iHo like 8 months ago :-D
