@Malcolm R Monaghan In 2015, the government announced it would no longer subsidise the cost of the licence fee and the BBC would have to find the funding itself. Tax cuts for the rich have to come from somewhere.

@Malcolm R Monaghan the bbc is owned by the government and the licence was invented, collected and enforced by the government. Boris could sell it to Fox or Sky if he wants. What made you think the bbc is independent.

@Malcolm R Monaghan the bbc also were told to fund the world service radio broadcasts which were up until then paid for by the foreign office. It is the standard privatisation route, run it down and sell it to international buyers. E.g. our trains which were underfunded and many are now run by, and profited from by other countries nationalised train companies. Agree to differ js a bit old fashioned, are t we meant to throw insults. Glad to debate with a civilised human for a change. Good luck to you, sir.
