So without California what happens to Mississippi Alabama Arkansas Oklahoma Kentucky and all the other red states that actually get more taxpayers money from the federal government than they send to Washington in taxes. As a matter of fact without blue state America Red state America can’t function. So why should the people in States that creat the American economy be held hostage to the low population low income rural states that have no real viable economy? Even Texas which voted trump depends on the democrat strongholds of Houston Austin Dallas San Antonio. Rural Texas is the only place republicans are in political power and the Texas economy while its the second largest in America is a full trillion dollars behind California.

They are not at all the same thing and have very different meanings in a given context. A republic means basically that a nation elects its leader rather than government by monarchy.
