  1. In many fomer USSR countries people own the appartments they live in. Thats why the calculation with rent is not the typical situation. People in Italy have more own real estate properties than in Germany that is why the living standard in Italy is higher than in Germany despite lower income. You cannot calculate the GDP of Russia just by the average income of the work force. A big part of the government budget still comes from raw material sales which do not need much work force. But the tendency is right because the income from raw material sales is shrinking in Russia. A simple picture helps to understand the economic problems, but we should not forget that the reality is not that simple.

  2. ​@stephenthomas3085 we all now that the Russian war economy is not sustainable, but we cannot be sure how long Putin can kick the issue down the road. There are still possibilities to squize out money from the citizen, for excample seizing bank accounts above a certain limit.
