  2.  @rogerbrownreacts8528  China takes Siberia while Russia is diatracted? Intriguing thought. Setting aside the whole nuclear weapons part, China would have the same problem as Russia. The logistics of supporting troops in the field are mind boggling and invasions are not to be entered into lightly.

  3. US is releasing petroleum from its strategic reserve in order to lower prices. The reserve was a critical defense asset in the 1970s when US was a huge importer. Now that the US is self-sufficient or even an exporter (thanks to shale), it can afford to open the reserve to manage prices. When the prices drop again, the US will refill the reserve with lower price petroleum and net a small profit.
