I guess the news sources you watch didn't cover the 1 trillion RMB debt package the CCP implemented to bail out local governments because of the housing collapse.

@stafer3 With no disrespect intended and with all sincerity, I recommend that you read some articles about China's real estate market investments. Until 2019, it was red hot. People were pouring their life savings into new apartments as investments. Local governments funded themselves through sales of land for real estate development. Real Estate companies overleveraged and the bubble burst in 2021 (see Three Red Lines and Evergreen). There are countless uncompleted buildings that were completely sold. The central government has had to implement a 1 trillion RMB debt vehicle to bail out the local governments. There is a correction underway, but tens/hundreds of millions of Chinese have lost their life savings, including any generational wealth that was passed down.
