@MarincaGheorghe I assumed he was… they’ve been forcibly “recruiting” in the occupied areas: Donetsk oblast, Luhansk oblast, and Crimea - since before the war started two years ago. Now they’ve been forcibly “recruiting” in Zaporizhzhia oblast as well as Kherson oblast as well. Trying to put Ukrainian citizens on the front line against their own people. I’d rather just surrender to my own people than try to kill them.

Laugh now, while you can Ivan, 😊 Sanctions take a long time to work. Some of them will hurt people like you - ‘ordinary russians’ who haven’t gone to the front lines yet. They are hurting the russian economy, but russia has been propping up its economy by blasting through its savings from Chinese banks. It is just a matter of time before the russian economy collapses. Sorry man! Good luck to you. Exchange your rubbles for USD or CHF soon, so you at least have a fighting chance.

@Hereford1642 Wait - what business is it of ANYONE’S if Ukraine wants to be in the EU or NATO? It certainly isn’t russia’s business, Ukraine doesn’t have to do ANYTHING that russia wants. That is what it means to be a SOVEREIGN, INDEPENDENT NATION. You know, like Ukraine is. So then, where does russia get off invading Ukraine? Because putin lusts for it. He wants - first - to block Ukraine’s access to the Black Sea (never going to happen) then take the rest of the country (😂 even more unlikely). Ukraine was offered a “peace deal” shortly after the start of this war, where russia would get to keep the territories they invaded/occupied, and in return - they would stop invading Ukraine and stop the missile and drone attacks. Hmmph, some peace deal - every single person on Earth knows that in a few years, russia would just replenish their army and missile stocks and do the same thing again. No, Ukraine is inflicting the most pain on russia by fighting, and they have taken back much of the land that russia tried to steal early on (areas north of Kiev, areas in Kharkiv, the right bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson oblast)… Ukraine doesn’t NEED russia’s permission to do anything. And they are doing a great job holding off the invaders. NATO will eventually intervene directly and push russia out of there. No nukes will be launched, putin knows his beloved Moscow will be a radioactive pile of glass if he does. This will end with russia retreating back to their territories. If you think russia can beat NATO then you’re deluded. We’ll find out, won’t we. 😊

I don’t see that happening. I see this war being drawn out a lot longer than anyone expected, and eventually the sanctions will bite russia harder than they think (expedited by Ukraine’s attacks on russia’s pocketbook - i.e., refineries and oil depots - and the russian economy will eventually collapse. I don’t think the west would just give in like that. The US will also eventually get that $60B to Ukraine. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

@petrwindmeijer7542 The russians? Yeah, we saw the videos of all those able-bodied russian men trying to get across the borders at Georgia, Azerbaijan, and other countries on rus borders… it was a few million guys, from what I remember…

@Dudush90 I don’t think much more of them “ran from Ukraine”, I think mostly it was mothers and children. The exodus of military-aged men in russia was astounding, millions left and have settled in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, etc. - and a few in Europe and Israel. I personally know several who did this, and they said the numbers being reported in the media are smaller than what actually happened.

⁠ @WinterXR7 They weren’t recruiting; there are so many documented cases of men (any age other than geriatric) literally being taken off the streets and put into vans. Their paperwork (passport, etc.) were taken away and they were forcefully conscripted. However, you may be right in that they were only used locally. But I really thought that most/all of these cases were the russian army, rather than the Donetsk or Luhansk militias.
