@projectedone Of course the US has this capability, Ivan. Are you paying attention? The “Oreshnik” is even old for the russians, you are just rebranding the “Rubezh” missile from 2011 with a new paint job. 😂 but it really is nothing new, and the US has had this technology since the 1980s at the latest. Ballistic missiles have been around since the 1950s, and the MIRV technology (multiple independent re-entry vehicle) was in production in the US by 1983. It is nothing new, but maybe it is to you russians - you are about 40-50 years behind us technologically.
WE (the US) do have a way to stop these, and it has already been proven in combat. THAAD was developed by Lockheed Martin in the 1990s to eliminate ballistic missiles. It has been improved many times over and is just getting better. It has been deployed in several countries and the US has more of these than you think. I believe Ukraine will get a THAAD system in the near future.
THAAD doesn’t try to intercept a ballistic missile after it goes ballistic (Ours hit Mach 26, I think the russian “Rubezh” gets to Mach 23.) THAAD sends missiles to intercept the ballistic target before it reaches any of those speeds, before it re-enters the atmosphere and has the gravity boost it needs to gain such high velocities.
It is also worth noting that russia does not have this capability. The S-500 was supposed to be able to do this, but russian engineers could not resolve the issues and delivered the S-500 without the ability to intercept ballistic missiles.
THAAD has been successfully tested in combat once, in 2019 - the UAE has a THAAD system and used it to intercept and destroy an Iranian ballistic missile fired by the Houthis. It was successful.
You russians will never be able to catch up to the Americans. You are just too far behind, your government pocketed most of the money needed to develop these technologies, and now you’ve lost most of your engineers who know how to develop this. All you can do now is rebrand old technologies as if they are new and “fearsome”. But we know better… russia is a laughingstock.
