@nifrain9494 It did invoke it. For a few hours. Search for "did the EU invokd article 16". Return. Top of page. Bold. "Yes". So you think Ursla apologised for triggering it because.... they didn't trigger it? Whereas the original comment doesn't like the fact the UK even talks about it.

No it is not doing better. There was one quarter in 21 when it grew more than the UK average. And people who can't mentally cope with Brexit got a hard on and haven't paid attention to any figures since. Obviously by maths Northern Ireland should have higher than average UK growth 2 quarters a year and lower 2 quarters a year. All else being equal. It's 2021 growth was lower. Its Q1 22, last available at that granulatity, was lower.

If their public wanted that. Which they don't. Should it be forced on them?

Or When they have "threatened" the EU have accepted it isn't working as expected or required. And so made changes to the practical implementation. Proposed further changes. Hence their "threat" hasn't been implemented because the threat alone has worked. It certainly does not only mean we can make them come to the table but we can make no changes without them saying yes first.

If was just a trade block remain would have won. Easily.

@lemsip207 It definitely should have been 90% adults accept the result and contribute to discussing the what of leaving rather than the if. 5% headbangers at each end of no deal and trying to stop it. But 90%, well would be 95%, accept the result. Way too many of the 48% refused to grant the losers consent upon which democracy is based (and ability to play with others is based).

@lemsip207 Don't disagree that was a possibility. I was agreeing with you that the headbangers on each side should have been a) smaller in number b) ignored. If remaining in the customs union without a) material annual financial costs (Norway pays about the sane per person as UK did in EU to be in the customs union), b) end of freedom of movement (Switzerland weren't allowed to tweak that) and c) no ECJ supremacy was a possibility. That should have been discussed among the 90% I mentioned who should have accepted we were leaving the EU. As long as those 3 met, it would be consistent with the clear 2016 campaigning. And obviously anyone who thinks "Result was close. Therefore we should only half leave" must also believe if the result had been 52/48 the other way they would equally have strongly felt we should half leave. Not 100% status quo. Otherwise they are intellectually bankrupt. I said above, if the EU was a trade block only, remain would have won easily.
