It has been know for years that they and half a dozen other drugs can slow viral replication or reduce cell infection, since the original research done in response to the SARS and MERS outbreaks, in fact there is literature that goes back 1800 years that hints at one particular compound's use for viral colds! Yeah that is not a typo almost back two millennia ago it was first written down in a Chinese medical text.

  3.  @col2959  Yep they must allow people at high risk to make the informed decision to take novel drugs etc. Their desire to run experiments comes second place to their obligations to stop this pandemic ASAP and they have no legal or ethical right to treat the the entire population as an experiment to test their pet theories. Same with all of their lies about keeping schools open.
