NZ sits on top of active volcanoes and has no excuse to not be 100% geothermal powered, however those same volcanoes will destroy that nation in the end, it is just a matter of time. One point to note is that NZ has nothing in common with Australia in that regard and so their actions should not be compared in any way. It is interesting that they are teaming up with another part of the world that is also living on borrowed time for similar reasons. The smartest place to actually have a silicon valley, including EV car, solar PV and battery production, would be on the higher ground in SE Queensland. We could also do deals with all of the Pacific nations to allow their people to work at those facilities, something that would be far less attractive if China offered it to them.
