@michaelofsydney6128 Pfft I bet you have never read a relevant book on the subject in your entire life. You can process coal so that it is even converted to energy in a fuel cell system, the charge is transferred over a membrane and the byproducts are 100% contained.

You can gasify coal so that there is no solids emissions at all, and use the existing gas pipeline grid to move the product around. Get that happening and we will have all the energy we need for several centuries.

@After_Pasta Go and read a book on chemical engineering. Everything has value. Hydrogen from solar thermal water plus CO2 produces more hydrocarbons, very pure synthetic fuel for aircraft, an otherwise unsolvable requirement without imports. All of the minerals likewise are feedstocks for other processes. When was the last time you read a non-fiction book cover to cover?
