Look into the molten salt reactor tech, if you break it open the salt just freezes solid, it is the old water cooled system that are dangerous. The ones designed and built a lifetime ago.

Go and read about volcanic winters and 536, the worst year to be alive. Look up the estimates of how many people starved to death from the lack of sunlight causing crop failures for multiple years, then look up estimates of the Earth's population back then. Without nuclear power and a lot of reserve capability for heating greenhouses and LED grow lamps we will see billions face death from starvation, and it really is just a matter of time before it happens again. It could start tomorrow, or in 300 years, we can never know beforehand, or stop it even if we could predict it, so the only option we have is to accept that the risk is real and run our civilization as if it was real. Currently governments are publicly completely in denial that the risk exists despite the historical record and what the volcanologists tell us to expect. Even running a nation on 50% solar is a suicidal proposition.

What if I told you that a hybrid fusion fission reactor has been designed that consumes what you call waste via neutron induced transmutation? Mate your ideas are 50 years out of date. If you want to learn more about it get in touch and I will tell you where to find all of the information you could ever want about the technology. Well the unclassified stuff anyway. 😆

Pro or against is just a childish false dichotomy. How do you think the Earth maintains its liquid core and magnetic field that protects all life from space radiation, because it is actually a huge natural nuclear reactor. 🤓

@ExileTheKnightsOfMaltaNow STFU and go and read some science and engineering, and get rid of that big fat ego of yours, you have a lot to learn and it is obviously getting in the way.

Forsooth, we could run out of coal one day, in a few centuries, then we will need nuclear power, but by then it would be fusion power, not that there's anything wrong with advanced fission power, it is much safer than tech from +50 years ago, just like our cars are.
