It is ultimately the parent's choice as to where their child is educated, state, private or home education. But if they continue to educate at home they would need to submit a curriculum eventually etc. you can even purchase these or use the national curriculum as a framework. The confusing thing for some people may be the fact that they are required to stay home but their kids are not and the "medical" advice, which is an appeal to authority fallacy, that kids don't get COVID-19 is a flat out deception, they can and they can die from it, only the risk is lower. So can they quantify the risk for Australian kids? No as there is no data for Australia available and it may depend on things such as if the room is closed up and air conditioned rather than using fresh air from open windows, so different for each state obviously, particularly over winter.

@willowway42 I home educate my five kids and always have, the point is that people who want to transition their kids to home education now can do it as easily as purchasing a curriculum that is already approved, what they do in the future is a separate matter. The natural learning choice comes with risks and responsibilities so I'd not burden parents who are new to home ed with that unless they were familiar with the idea and it already aligned with their worldview. If they saw things that way they probably already be doing it anyway. :-)
