No, it does not even target the same receptors on the host's cell and it has twice as many genes, also influenza mutates at 4 times the rate of COVID-19. They are not even similar.

There is no proven cure that is safe to use in the sort of people who are most likely to get very sick. None of the drugs they are trialing are entirely safe and all of them are more dangerous to people with comorbidities and who are using other drugs to manage those diseases, these are the people who get sickest from COVID-19. It is an awful catch-22 situation and people need to wake up to that reality.

@bullsnutsoz Those quinine derived medications suppress your immune system, that is why they use them to treat lupus. They really are not as good for you as you may think, only better than being dead, but even then they may help you die and not save you if you are unlucky and they react with your other medications or hurt your already damaged organs.

Look at the data from Spain, they have the normal number of deaths expected at any time of year, plus they have the COVID-19 deaths, and then they have the extra deaths. The total death rate is about 3 times higher than normal and 1/3 of that is unexplained. i.e. The virus situation is somehow killing double the number of people that they are actually reporting as COVID-19 deaths, they are actually under reporting!
