Early on when covid was less infectious and more pathological researchers in the USA decided to randomly sample a group of people to see if they had antibodies to the virus, the results indicated that as many as ten people were infected for every person detected via testing. That means that if you have just 10,000 people detected as infected 5 days in a row you have half a million other people wandering around undetected for the duration of their contagious stage and at that rate you run out of people to infect. If all restrictions had been dropped and efforts focussed 100% on protecting the vulnerable then the wave would have been over even faster and that would have reduced the risk to the vulnerable as they would have to live through less days of maximum risk. if you can understand my point then perhaps you can also understand why I have nothing but contempt for the government's management of this issue.
