  1. Yes, but you see that sort of thing all throughout the corporate world. There may be other factors at play. Somebody leaked Meta's version of GPT-3 on 4Chan, the language model they created in-house, and it is just as crap. Basically the tech industry has spent the last decade or so pursuing a newer approach to AI and the best they have come up with is pretty lame and possibly a complete deadend. They have blown tens of billions of dollars. Language models built using statistical methods will let you evolve neural networks that constrain language generators so that it mimics what a human would produce, but it is very much a case of the lights are on but nobody's home. Currently there is very little I in AI.
