  1. A very apt interview indeed, particularly thought provoking today, at this particularly poignant time (approaching 11.00am). I was unable to reach Manchester to attend my intended Remembrance in St. Peter’s Square (I no longer attend Remembrance at my hometown of Bolton). My thoughts are still there, but I am completely unable to watch the ceremony at the Cenotaph on TV, since repellant members of our so-called ‘government’ would be there. Over 20 years ago, my late father (ex Royal Armoured Corps) was one of a small committee who liaised with the mayor and other support and helped produce large Remembrance parades in Bolton, with representatives of every single branch of the armed forces, with as many branches of countries involved in WWI and WWII. The aim was always the respectful honouring of those who made the ultimate sacrifice and a muted respect for those in attendance who gave their youth for us. Of course, ‘old soldiers never die, they simply fade away’ is so true. During my father’s involvement in organising Bolton’s Remembrance, I remember an elderly gentleman and his friend being guests of honour, sat in front of the dais of ‘bigwigs’ with their splendid red tunics and pillbox hats with the initials ‘RH’ - they were veterans of WWI. Of course, most veterans of WWII have ‘faded away’. We now have a so-called ‘parliament’ that treats the children of those WWII veterans (myself included) like dirt - so one is hardly likely to want to watch any of them and their fake antics before a revered memorial - the Cenotaph. 👍🇬🇧👍🇮🇱👍🇬🇧👍🇮🇱👍🇬🇧👍
