Coworker called off his wedding when he found out his fiancee was in 189k in debt. 89k is student loans the other is credit card debt. She actually told him it's no big deal you make good money we can do this. He told her he wasn't going to accept her debts so he called off the wedding. He then realized she was just pressuring him to marry her after he called it off. Since she wasn't willing to file bankruptcy to eliminate her credit card debt at least. He just broke up with her. As he said that the whole let's get married and then she would have access to his credit. As he said he had no intention of becoming financially stable to be destroyed by the person who is supposed to add to stability.

@Stephanopoulosaugustus well don't know those details. Just the reasons he gave to everyone about the cancelation.

@tylerkinley268 Yea when my coworker told me this . I was kinda amazed his former fiancee really believed he should take on that kind of debt load.

@privateuser3726 while her student loan obligations remain the same. Her credit card debts and other small loans would be waved. In the situation my coworkers former fiancee was in it was the only valid responsible thing to do. She didn't want to do that but wanted my coworker to take on all her obligations. That would have been a extremely ponderosa and quite frankly heavy load to be dumped on someone who has done most everything right and been able to keep a clean credit history. Also my coworker felt that she had not been completely honest about her situation. If he hadn't discovered this debt load before hand after he married her those debts would have been his as well. She wanted access to his money and credit. While he is on a good footing currently marrying someone with delinquent credit obligations would have heavily impacted his finances and credit. Less than ideal for a married couple just starting out.

@firefeethok_tui2355 Well Garet wasn't a idiot. Though I am sure he was a bit disappointed.
