  2.  @TheSMR1969  you know, if you ever find yourself arguing the morality of the bomb with a WW2 American general who lost thousands of soldiers both in action or where killed as POWs. You have one MAJOR advantage. You are living in the future, AFTER the fact. You have far more background and evidence to look at. The generals who were deciding what to do with the bomb had no such advantage. They just wanted to end the war and stop the bloodshed. Do you have any idea how many would die in operation downfall? The Japanese were planning on fighting to the last civilian, even if that meant the total destruction of Japanese civilization. CURRENTLY this was the only way they could end the war quickly without anymore suffering. Please remember that.

  11.  @Flumpadorus  really? Well that’s funny because the Japanese went against that idea every single time. In Okinawa they fought brutally inflicting 60,000 casualties on the US and when it was clear they would they killed not only themselves but forced many of the island’s civilians to commit suicide including many slave laborers. They did this through out the pacific and repeatedly showed how much they valued fighting to the death by brutalizing and/or killing POWs who were seen as “cowardly”.
