I can't imagine anything dumber. Russia would love nothing more. Once inside Russian borders, no more 'SMO' rules. Gloves come off and they can deal with them however they choose; up to and including nuking them and the only thing anyone could do about it is cry to the UN. Meanwhile, Russia will rage unopposed across Donbass and swallow half of Ukraine in one bite.
No doubt this is a major part of their 'counteroffensive', but as a desperate distraction from the accelerating spate of major losses they've taken since spring. Secondarily, as an impotent attempt to draw Russian combat forces off the front; but Russia isnt, nor will take the obvious bait.
Of course, if MSM actually reported whats happening, instead of what and when Kiev tells them to report, Bakhmut wouldn't have come as such a shock and everyone would know that Russia is already driving an offensive that is about to take Avdiivka and Marinka, too, as well as threatening Kupiansk. Ukraine's top General is probably dead or incapacitated. They've lost their three most critical airfields, they've lost at least 4 NATO weapons caches that went up like Hiroshima. Russia knocked at least one Patriot battery out of commission, either by exhauting it, or most likely taking out the RADAR, or command module.

To the contrary, Afghanistan keeps coming around. Now, the ANA that we trained up, used up and abandoned to the tender mercies if the Taliban that we trained up, used up and abandoned, are going to the Russian Army at US equivalent E3/E/4 pay and automatic citizenship for their families.
ISIS sure came back around after we funded, trained and supported their savagery, because they butchered a few Russians and cannibalized them.
Now, we are equipping, supporting and cheering for outright self-identified neonazis brazenly attacking civilians. Im sure that won't have any downstream consequences, either.
