Quite right. By October 1918 it was obvious to the sailors in the fleet that the war couldn't be won. Actually after the repulse of Germany''s spring offensive, most of the army probably realised it as well. The mutiny was essentially a refusal by the sailors to commit ritual suicide for the sake of the amour-propre of a failed officer class. One can hardly blame them.
