  1. Lying to Congress while not under oath can get you 5 years or more, even as part of discovery hearings. But don't believe me... It's an easy search with multiple sources and recorded precedents.

  2. fauxbro1983, Lying to Congress when not under oath, even in private as part of discovery is a crime. This is punishable by 5 years imprisonment but can be more. Though this is for some reason (political influence?) rarely used. Lying under oath or giving false statement under oath is perjury & can carry stiffer penalties.
