29:42 (Parshall) "You look at Kaga. Umm...my god. You know, even if they'd been able to tow her home...she'd have been worth nothing but razor blades at that point." 57:57 (Parshall) "There's always going to be some irascible sea-dogs running around. I mean obviously the US Navy, as a whole, is run by Earnest King who's not exactly, you know, a ball of laughs at a party." 1:01:30 (Parshall) "And frankly, from the Russian standpoint, I think it's an open question as to whether or not Russian is going to survive 1942." My question to J. Parshall. I've heard said that a significant impediment to writing histories that rely on the archives of other nations is the 'cost of translation'. Is this true? I imagine that it probably requires translating MANY pages, just to write one sentence of history. Seems to me that a "Go Fund Me" campaign could help. I would be happy to support authors involved in this work. I believe the community of history-readers would agree with me.
