  1. Boris keeps getting called a 'congenital liar' but I'm not sure how that's evidenced because the examples given here are 'he lied about the Christmas party' (he did a quiz over Zoom and was advised by his staff all rules were followed, plus people in Downing Street have to be present every day in the office like key workers and I know for a fact that others across the country had gatherings like that because they were together anyway, it's not like households mixing, and it's not increasing the risk. It's a storm in a teacup imho), and 'he said we were over the worst of the pandemic' (a statement made in good faith at the time, or does Diane Abbott thinks Boris can see into the future to tell a lie about it?). Call me pedantic but a lie is a deliberate untruth, usually for self gain. Quite often what I see called lies are just statements of intent that didn't come to pass. That's not a lie. At worst it's misplaced optimism. I'm not saying Boris is never economical with the truth because that's politics but Abbottapotamus is guilty of that herself. If politicians were more often forgiven for failures or mistakes and encouraged to be honest instead of harangued out of their jobs over anything they do, perhaps the culture in politics would be different. We say 'just say 'I don't know!' and 'Be honest' but lol what happens when a politician actually says that - they get piled on by the media calling for their head for their incompetence and inability to fix everything for everyone all the time. I could never be a politician, you have to have hide like rhino
