I totally agree. As a son of immigrants myself, we all had to apply to get our documents with the Portuguese government. My grandparents immigrated to Mozambique a Portuguese colony at the time. They had to learn to speak Portuguese. My mother and my father were born there. So they learned the language since they were kids. When I came to the UK 10 years ago, I only had to present my EU citizenship card. I had 7 years of English classes at school from 5th grade to 11th grade. People who throw away their passports and try to come in under the status of refugees shouldn't be allowed to enter. Their applications should be rejected and sent back to their home countries. Accepting illegal immigration will only give more incentives for more people to do the same. Punishment needs to be enforced in order for the laws to be respected. It's always been like this unfortunately. People only behave when there's consequence.
