It's not a crime it's a misdemeanor and asylum seekers can not be penalized at all for crossing the border of a safe haven country. 8 USC 1158, this has been law for over 50 years it's what the extreme low informed call an open border policy.

@twoody79 Where have I made those statements? I support following our laws. If they do not qualify they are deported. The Right has denied them the Right to even make the request. Why not support following our laws instead you cling to your tribalism, and supporting your cults constant attempts to punish immigrants that are following the laws, just so you can stop those who are not following our laws. @dancinginabundance read our asylum laws 8 usc 1158. It's clearly written. Anyone on continental US soil can apply for asylum. Asylum seekers can not be penalized for the illegal entry into a safe have country. That has been US law and international treaty for over 40 years. It was confirmed in federal court when they reversed this zero tolerance policy 5 years ago in East Bay Sanctuary VS Trump. You're a few years behind, stop listening to Right wing lies and propaganda, that is all you will hear about the border.
