He only saw a reduction for the first 9 months of 2020 due to covid, before it went back to a 20 year monthly high in October of 2020. It has remained a 20 year high and increasing ever since under Trumps failed policies and Title 42.

Wall was a rally call and not a realistic policy and why the GOP did not fund it when trump had majorities in congress. Remain in Mexico was in violation of the law that was not removed until 2023 so it was not working, and the law allows do for asylum seekers to bonded or paroled for their hearing.

Yet now using it to trigger a base that is now openly full of hate on immigrants and this hate is now fed by GOP governors feeding off of that for votes from GOP supporters who immoral views support separating children from parents as a deterrent, use of lethal force, lying to immigrants to ship them to dem cities to stick it to libs, incarceration, and placing them in the hands of traffickers. All because of immigrants who may or may not have violated a misdemeanor that carries a civil penalty. Trumps immoral policies were violating US law by snatching children from legal asylum seeks as a deterrent. Courts overturned that policy that the Right still supports and defends. Harris was never appointed as border czar, by Biden. There are no 85000 missing children, and no these immigrants cannot use their driver’s license to vote. The Right does nothing but lie.

Due to the Flores settlement unaccompanied minors and those apprehended with adults who have committed serious crimes cannot be detained with other adults. So, they are detained separately or in family units, if detention room is available for families while waiting processing. Crossing the border between check points is a violation of title 8 USC 1325. It is a federal misdemeanor that carries a civil penalty. Those making asylum requests while crossing between check points cannot be penalized for their illegal entry, title 8 USC 1158. Under Obama and other Presidents, the policy was to detain families together and process and release depending on asylum qualifications or deport if they do not qualify. Under Trumps zero tolerance policy created in 2018 anyone crossing between check points asylum or not was charged with a crime and the child was separated and later lost in the process. Trumps separation policy was in violation of the law and was reversed in East Bay Sanctuary vs Trump. Trump later would blame everyone else for this immoral policy he claimed he didn’t want to use, even when he had his legal team fight to keep it in appeal. Trump created an executive order to stop the separations in his policy but kept the policy in place. Tom Homan and Trumps immoral supporters still to this day defend and support that policy. Trumps separation policy is why taxpayers were being sued and why there were talks about settlements for 450k to immigrants. Biden later removed that policy with an executive order. There was a report about this immoral Trump policy and in it a reporter used a stock photo of a detention center with a child behind a chain-link fence that was taken when Obama was president. The Right wing media used that to deflect it’s base away from the separation policy and lie that Obama had the same policy.

Immigrants already have sued US taxpayers for Trumps policy of snatching and separating children of legal asylum seekers. And yes any law suit against Biden for false claims of his policies causing their deaths, would be paid by taxpayers in the remote chance a Right wing judge would rule in favor.

They were doing the same under Trump too. When an unaccompanied minor is apprehended CBP has 72 hours to turn them over to family services who must quickly find family in the US or a sponsor to take that child. Once that child has been turned over to that family or sponsor that ends the government’s responsibility to that child. The Government does make a 30 day check in call to those children or sponsor. The child and sponsor are not required to take or return the call. The government reported during a short period of time that a percentage of calls went unanswered. A reporter took that percentage against the total number of unaccompanied minors’ apprehensions and came up with that bogus number of children who the government lost contact with. The Right decided to change that wording from lost contact to missing children then conflated it with the story of minor children working.
