Both of these are responsible for a large number of unaccompanied minors being sent to the border and leaves them exposed to cartels and traffickers. Biden is following federal immigration laws. The Right doesn't even know the difference between an asylum seekers and an immigrant they ate all.illegsl to the Right and the Right will ignore laws for their hate of immigrants.

Trumps remain in Mexico policy for asylum seekers coming through ports of entry. Overturned by federal courts. These two policies also made it so that families started sending children unaccompanied forcing Biden to have to take them in. Biden by law has to take in asylum seekers that cross the border and make the request and put them through a verification process. Trump was violating that law by charging them with a crime and separating. Trumps policies gave the results the Right wanted they just violated 50 years of immigration laws that were working. This us all easy information to find without the use of the MSM, but they did report it correctly or at least better then the Right.

Trump also ended the rest of his separation policy before leaving office so there goes your argument. The third country rule does not apply to Mexico as a Trump appointed judge tossed out Trumps claim to that policy last summer. Many do have a creditable fear and after they are allowed to make an asylum request that claim is vetted and verified they still have a legal right to the request and without arrest and separation that were used as a deterrent. Trumps violations are in our 1980 immigration INA laws in the treatment of asylum seekers and our treaty obligations to 1968 Geneva Convention to the treatment of Refugees.

If these people do not have a valid claim they ate returned we still have to legally give them the Right to make the request. After August the number normalized to what they were before he took office. And they were at a 50 year low low of below 400,000 a year after a 17 year decline when he took over. After that he had covid shut down and was separating families at the border and caused an increase of unaccompanied minors.

Biden had one month in February, the tightest due to weather, and has only had 60+ days in office. Trump in 2019 had 70k in February, then had 4 months of over 400,000 including May at 144,000. The numbers went back to what they were before the caravan after that it want his policy.

Other presidents only separated if there were other charges for other crimes committed. Crossing the border is a misdemeanor that carries a civil penalty. Trump was doing it as a deterrent to immigration. Trump was also using that separation policy on asylum seekers. And no one else was separating asylees as that is a violation of the law.
