“you have to know WHAT TO READ” You should read widely, deeply, and often. To read one book on a subject is like getting married after the first date. This is to say, that I have read 9 books on the topic and read virtually every article since that has come out in the WSJ, NYT, WAPO, NPR, and several documentaries by Frontline and other PBS programs.
The consensus I have garnered is that Cheney & Rumsfeld lied, they ignored all intelligence that did not fit their narrative. As the 23 July 2002 MI6 Downing Street Memo stated "[George W.] Bush wanted to remove Saddam Hussein, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy."
The fact that you have read ANY articles about the topic speaks volumes for you. Take that dive and love of reading, and go down the rabbit whole. Challenge your views with well researched and scholarly books and articles. You may not come out the other side in the same way I did but you will have a strong background in the complexity of the subject.
I wish you well.
Notice I always blame Cheney and Rumsfeld. I believe they were the true architects of the war - Bush was naive I followed their lead.

I told you about my service to indicate that I am not automatically anti military nor anti military intervention.
I told you about voting twice for Bush to indicate I am not automatically anti Republican, but have voted Republican all my life until Trump came alone and turned the GOP into an unrecognizable far right Party.
It is unfortunate that you reject all scholarly works if they don’t come from within your world view Bubble. How can you discern the truth if you are not willing to listen to the reasonable facts presented by the defense and the prosecution? Some degree of bias is inherent in all scholarly works, as any scholar will admit, but it is the research & documentation that will always carry the day. The book club that I belong to is comprised of 9 Business Men, 2 Chemical Engineers, 1 Physicist, 2 Doctors, 1 Professor of Organic Chemistry, 1 Food Chemistry Eng., 1 Real Estate Pro, 1 Ret. Rancher, and 1 Ret. Green Beret. When we read a book we not only talk about the book, but we also talk about the scholarship and quality of research evident/or not evident in the book. The point being, that Fiasco is well worth reading on many levels.
As always I wish you well, I hope you will read good scholarly works always, read broadly, and read deeply down the rabbit hole. It is not that you have an opinion that makes you wise it is that you have a deep understanding of the subject.
