@dcviper985 Moral duty doesn't launch wars. One could say America had a moral duty to stand by the Kurds too, but it didn't.

@autohmae "shocks to the system which and a LOT more expensive" - shocks are a lot more expensive only when the shock happens, but cheaper for all the years or decades before that. Efficiency has lower prices across all that time, which adds up. It's not at all clear that the ultimate cost of being less efficient is lower, because even if a shock hurts less, the rest hurts more.
