@THEEck5000 Not really. Pretty much every resource China could want is just to the north in Russia in spades, and in case of conflict they would happily support China against their common enemy.

@Historia.Magistra.Vitae. Keep dreaming that the myth of perfect competition is how capitalism actually works. It never has and never will. The very concept is repeatedly stressed as just a toy model even in textbooks. It's never been a thing.

@Historia.Magistra.Vitae. Bub it is fiction. Any economics textbook will tell you that. There isn't and can never be a perfectly competitive market, even the private sector wouldn't want it. There's no profit margin to be had in such a market for instance. Nor anything to distinguish one producer from any other (basically the antithesis of everything Apple represents). It's a toy model, akin to the spherical cow in physics. No one thinks it corresponds to reality, save for those with a poor grasp on reality themselves. What has happened in reality isn't an aberration, it's to be expected. Both from govts. AND private industry.
