Also Westerners: The poverty in the west is due to the bubonic plague, that occurred SEVEN centuries ago. Tbf most actual economists, even in the west, don't tend to discount colonialism. It's mainly the layman western public that does. Actual academics also do look at geography for explanations. The western public just looks to protect their own ego.
