@ATW090 Russia is the most resource rich country on Earth, and China has more trade and closer ties to both them as well as Africa and Latin America (highly resource rich continents). In the west the only resource rich nations are the US, Canada and Australia, only one of whom is world leading economy. This war is good for America sure, but Europe doesn't have a long term advantage, leaving them to become ever more dependent on the US to sustain themselves.

Lol people have touted pride and sentiment as marketing boosts for ages, and it has achieved almost jack shit. You think Made in Ukraine is gonna sway customers? How about Made in (your own damn country)? That's been tried by so many small businesses as a way to get sales, and by and large they're all still small businesses cos, guess what, most consumers don't give a shit. On the flipside Made in Israel hasn't dissuaded consumers despite the best efforts of the BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanction) movement. Cos, like I said, most don't give a shit. As for corruption and cronyism, Ukraine's govt. now is even more centralized and empowered relative to its populace than it ever was (duh, they're under martial law). And unaccountable power is the perfect breeding ground for corruption and cronyism.

@davocc2405 If you think China's demography is bad, look at most of the west as well as Japan and Korea. China's demography is comparable to that of America, while western Europe is actually worse. The US is propped up by immigration, not its birth rate. That might be fine for America, but not for most nations in Europe. They get immigrants from eastern Europe, which is draining eastern Europe's capacity (and they fight African immigration tooth and nail). Meanwhile Ukraine has faced a demographic tsunami with millions of people leaving both before and during the war, and many of them say they have no intention of going back later if they can stay in the west. Ukraine used to have over 50 million people at the time of independence in 1993. It now has barely around 30 million, just 30 years later.

@davocc2405 Lastly Peter Zeihan is a hack who's made a career telling Americans what they want to hear. He used to publish seriously among academics, but ever since he exploded in popularity he's switched to being more of a pundit for the public, with the subsequent fall in quality owing to having to cater to a far less critical audience. His early works are nice enough, his current demagoguery on Youtube and other social media are little more than pandering to the audience he's cultivated.
