Russia's economic might is itself highly dependent on its military industrial sector. Also, they are pursuing other economic projects, most notably staking claims and building up the infrastructure needed to cash in on the melting of the Arctic, both for resources and new shipping routes. Yep, global warming is great news for Russia.

It's generally expected that if Russia were to invade, without US help Europe would be unable to stop them. Of course the aggressors' strength decreases with distance (longer supply lines) so that doesn't mean they could take all of Europe, but it does mean that within effective supply range Europe would be unable to stand up to them. @AlbertBasedman VisualPolitik is a Spanish channel, that later made an English offshoot. Simon was merely the presenter, he didn't decide the content. He left earlier this year, probably cos he has over half a dozen of channels of his own that he'd prefer to focus on. The two new guys are the same - the script isn't theirs.
