@J_X999 No I'm saying anti-Americanism is an older and more global phenomenon. What does Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, China, Russia, etc. have in common with each other? Not much. And yet somehow there's anti-Americanism in all of them. By contrast those places aren't anywhere near as widely disliked, mostly disliked in the specific places in which they have a bad history. That should give one pause. It doesn't make these places the good guys, but it certainly undermines the idea of the US being one. And yeah the reason is a mountain of history, oft of the violent kind, and not even for the cause of freedom or the like. When the OP talks about defying the 'global system', it's really more honest to say defying the west. Yes China also paints America as the bad guy, but one of those nations hasn't been to war in nearly half a century while the other left its last one just last year. Recall even the trade war wasn't launched by China. And yet the latter is treated as the aggressor. American wars this century have higher death tolls even individually than all of Russia's conflicts in that period combined. Yet look who's considered the demon, and who's treated as the champion of the light. Meanwhile China doesn't even have any recent wars, so they fixate on its internal policies instead as if that's their business. And even then their death toll is higher. But this isn't unique to China - it's been done before and is again being done to Russia, before Trump shifted all focus to China it was being done to Muslims, and so on. Basically anyone outside of the west who dares to defy the west isn't merely a rival, they're actively evil. Which ofc they'd reciprocate. But that anti-Americanism is so old and found so widely should be a dead giveaway. You don't get so many widely different people disliking you for no reason.
