Comments by "Persona" (@ArawnOfAnnwn) on "Why do OIL RICH MONARCHIES have so many IMMIGRANTS? (and why is this a problem?) - VisualPolitik EN" video.
The difference is that Norway was democratic before it found oil. These countries weren't. It's not so much that their people are naturally lazy - they don't work hard cos they don't have to. They have ruling families whose popularity is in most cases questionable. Much of the more fundamentalist locals see their rulers as rotten and corrupt, since Islam preaches against indulgence. The monarchies would probably have fallen decades ago, but they used the oil money to essentially bribe their people to stay in power (religion and hypocrisy going hand in hand is hardly new). They indulge their people, and their people don't revolt (some still do - Osama bin Laden, for instance, hated the monarchy even more than America - for which they import weapons and mercenaries).

This channels' favorite country is Argentina, by far. Hardly the UAE.

@poetpinch1396 My point is that there are political reasons for why the Gulf did not act the way Norway did. Your 'point' doesn't acknowledge that, implicitly treating two very different countries and cultures and circumstances the same.

@poetpinch1396 No, it wasn't. You didn't even mention or acknowledge any of that. Now you want to pretend like it was included? Your original words are there for all to see, dude. And even now you're just dismissing a difference in circumstances as "stupid"? How can a circumstance be stupid? That just shows that you're not interested in circumstances, you just want to attack the people. At least be open and admit it. And stop pretending your 'point', whatever it is, somehow includes more than what you said.

@poetpinch1396 "That's precisely the thing I did not want to say or mean." - Hah! You finally let slip what your real 'point' was. At least the other guy you were agreeing with was open about his distaste for a people. Unlike you who tried hiding it behind 'nicer' language. Pathetic.
