@darthparallax5207 Well you're right about the 5 year old part. Your ideas are based purely on geography, completely ignoring history and politics. Brazil and Argentina don't get along, and are on opposite sides of the economic spectrum right now. Besides, Mercosur already exists. Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand have a complicated history, leading to a complicated relationship. Myanmar can't even get along with itself! Vietnam has a long history with China, although that said most of their investment also comes from there so it's not a simple picture either (not to mention that despite all the western rhetoric, they haven't forgotten what the us and france did either). And India would rather stay out of the Myanmar mess as much as possible - it has engaged with them already, cos some of it spills over into their eastern states. But overall no one, not even China, wants to get too entangled there. Everyone just hopes it doesn't affect them.
BRICS works precisely cos of how disparate its members are, so there's less internal conflict. With the one exception being India and China ofc. But other than that, the members get along well enough. Funnily enough it's actually Russia, not China, that unites them most, as all have good relations with it.
