@electrosyzygy BRICS doesn't prevent its members from being in other economic blocs to begin with, and in fact many of them already are. But it was telling that you focused most of your comment on BRICS, and the rest on SA, trashing both. And none of the subject of the video. There's a good deal of venom that underpinning that focus. For the former it's cos of geopolitics, for the latter it's cos of even uglier tendencies. In both cases, and especially given your pride in your eurocentrism, they arise from a core of hubris that stretches back over 400 years. You weren't even attacked in this thread, but felt the need to show that arrogance anyway

@darthparallax5207 Well you're right about the 5 year old part. Your ideas are based purely on geography, completely ignoring history and politics. Brazil and Argentina don't get along, and are on opposite sides of the economic spectrum right now. Besides, Mercosur already exists. Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand have a complicated history, leading to a complicated relationship. Myanmar can't even get along with itself! Vietnam has a long history with China, although that said most of their investment also comes from there so it's not a simple picture either (not to mention that despite all the western rhetoric, they haven't forgotten what the us and france did either). And India would rather stay out of the Myanmar mess as much as possible - it has engaged with them already, cos some of it spills over into their eastern states. But overall no one, not even China, wants to get too entangled there. Everyone just hopes it doesn't affect them. BRICS works precisely cos of how disparate its members are, so there's less internal conflict. With the one exception being India and China ofc. But other than that, the members get along well enough. Funnily enough it's actually Russia, not China, that unites them most, as all have good relations with it.

@muhdafif2855 Maybe. Mostly what I hear of is just chip assembly, not chip R&D. There's a long way to go for Malaysia to rival Taiwan as the video says.

@arii1987 'You don't sanction your ally' - you'd be surprised. India has been under us sanctions before for instance, despite how they court it now. Not to mention Vietnam, which they court now but whose history you well know. Neither has forgotten. But an even better case study would be the Plaza Accords. While technically not sanctions, they did ruin Japan's economy.
