  1. Because he's a good fifteen points behind and is desperate not to look utterly doomed after super tuesday. But it didn't work, and his odds of winning even a single state are at best 50/50- He has a shot at Arkansas and Minnesota I suppose. Even funnier, Cruz has just better than a 50/50 shot at retaining his own home state and might not win anywhere else. In most states he's a distant third and his lead has evaporated in Alaska.
