When my son first left college, he went and signed on at the job centre and every temp agency in our town, but there wasn't always work avaiable, so my spoke to the job centre about getting a forklift truck licence as there were jobs for it advertised everywhere. The job centre said no because it wouldn't get him a job, so my Dad paid for him to do it, which he passed with top marks. I helped him redo his CV to include his forklift licence and we drove all over the area handing them to any prospective employer, when he went to the job centre, they said they were going to sanction him (stop his money) because he had not applied for enough jobs on line and that handing out CVs did not count and would not result in him getting a job, I know exactly what they said to him because I was there with him. 2 days later he received a call from an agency who dealt with all job applications for CAT, offering him a temp to perm job to start two days later. I was very angry the way they had dismissed and treated my son's efforts to find employment, so I went into the job centre and informed them that, the forklift licence they said would not get him a job and the handing out of CV they daid wouldn't get him a job, had in fact got him a job with one of the top companies in our area and that they had been wrong and asked them why they had treated my son the way they had done. They had no answer but the security guard was killing himself laughing at my confrontation with said employees.
