  1. They should stop sending people to prison for petty crimes such as none payment of tv licence and council tax or none payment of fines. Instead of sending migrants to prison deport them immediately. Rebuild mental health institutions, that Maggie Thatcher closed in favour of care in the community. Stop sending drug addicts to prison invest in rehabilitation centres which could be done as a wing of mental health institutions. Prison is not the place for drug addicts as it is easier for them to get hold of drugs in prison. Releasing people when they have hardly served any of their sentence is no deterrent and there is a real danger of the wrong people being released.
