  1. Racism & discrimnation of any kind are not ok. It's a bit of a different subject, these historical events need to be discussed and thought at school, I would keep it for the last 2 years of school, because of how harsh they are. Now, of course you shouldn't blame Japanese for their history, you need to leave most citizens alone, there is an exception to this though: the Japanese government: they cannot turn back the clock, but they should at least acknowledge their wrong and apologise, that has not happened yet. The confort women alone, I know there's 1 or several trials going on, some of these women are sitll alive today. It's purely symbolic, it's not about money, but The Government needs to officially recognise & apologise for their wrong doings and at the same time the people need to know about Nanking, confort women, etc... You combine both the fact that the Government doesn't officially acknowledge the atrocities combined with the fact that most Japanese don't even know about these events, it feels like denial of the history. I learned about these subjects very recently, it's a long & complicated history, but I think it's important for people to know. Now Japan isn't the only country doing this, you Take Turkey to this day in denial of the Armenian Massacre. I'll go to my own country Belgium. In school we barely studied the Congo, but then later in my 20ies I found out what Leopold did in Congo and started to wonder: why isn't this thought in school? Is it too graphic? Same as for Japan, if I play the devil's advocate, I would almost say it's done on purpose perhaps? The Nazis did some pretty bad shit, but most of the world knows about it, what Japan did during WWII, also pretty bad, too few know about it. Now what happened in the Soviet Union, what Soviets did during WWII, it's such a complicated but well studied subject, most people still don't know about it, same goes for China after WWII and even the current China, though more and more people are standing up to the current Chinese government. I mean there's a modern holocaust going on right now and it's not being stopped. At the same time there's Ukraine going on, there we saw the exact same tactics used during WWII, Russian have not changed their brutal war tactics. Go over the history of Stalin alone, the best way to describe is: he created hell on earth, Russia went through many massacres, famine, etc... Now Russians "freed" Europe and "defeated" the nazis, they did in part, the part that most people ignore is the fact that drunk Russian soldiers raped their way from Russia to Berlin. Now the USA has plenty of forgotten or covered up dark history, I mean in Japan alone, they did 60+ city firebombings. The A bombs were horrific, estimated 200k dead, 2 weeks after they firebombed Tokyo, estimated death 400k. Cities in Europe were destroyed as well, check the History of Dresden during WWII. Americans liberated both Europe and Japan, but there were still bad apples in the military, they stole stuff, it's a fact that some people were raped. You can get deep into the history of the CIA, they meddled with a lot of countries, there's also all the illegal wars waged. Iraq to this day is suffering, Libya never recovered from What Obama did to the country. There's the history colonialism, there's still consequences today, there's modern forms of colonialism today (looking at you China & Russia going into Africa) 1 bit of the video on slavery: for some reason, we only talk about "black" slaves. White people were enslaved as well, Asians, Latin Americans, etc... everyone used slaves. For some reason we only need to look at "black" slaves, that's weird. Europe had slaves in the past, it's was a common practise in most of the world. Now even during the international slave trade era, not all slaves were "black", very far from it. Now also note how it was African themselves selling their own people as Slaves, there's a burden of responsiblity there. Here's the worst part: there's still slaves in modern times, in fact it's estimated there has never been this many slaves ever as in modern times. Why the fuck isn't that stopped? Here's the really dark thing: you can find videos online of modern slave markets, these people have no remorse or guilt for their actions.
