@3rdwrldkid Puerto Vallarta is not a main destination as Cancún, Los Cabos or Mazatlán. In fact, Cancún has more than 10 TIMES the traffic of the AIFA on its first year. (I choose Puerto Vallarta since was the closest to AIFA).
You also have Tijuana, Monterrey, Mérida and Bajío: None of them are hubs for tourism, yet they have more traffic than the AIFA.
But let's take ypur point: «aifa was made to help lessen the traffic at aicm».
Well, the government projected 2.4 millions of passengers in the first 10 months, but it only got a little less than 1.1 million, less than the half of the goal.
And this is with all the limitations imposed on the AICM.
Also: «Mainstream media»? Aristegui and Proceso went from «honest» to «sold» accordng to AMLO as soon as they expose the first corruption cases in his government // family.
If your sources are YouTube channels managed by a single guy, created the year AMLO took office, and that only praise AMLO, of course all this is new to you. 😆

@adelatorremothelet There's a lot of issues with your comment.
First, why it would be negative to change policies after 50 years of doing the same? You actually think that policies have to be eternal?
Second, wht you mention as 80s is the period of de la Madrid (1982 - 1988), which didn't saw any mayor changes. Before we had López Portillo, who was a hardcore populist whoe relied in social spending (just like the actual López). If anything, any major change came with Salinas and after the NAFTA well in the 90s.
Third: About the «the people doing the policies are irrelevant»... Well, among these people you have Ovalle, the guy who embezzled CONASUPO in the 90s and embezzled SEGALMED. (One of the biggest scandals of corruption with AMLO) this year. (Who would guess he was like that, right?) With Bartlett you have that his non wife sudenly owns a haf dozen of houses and his son, León, sells overpriced medical equipment to the government... But the people is irrelevan, I guess.
Fourth: The Bank rescue you complaint about (FOBAPROA) was approved by Mario Delgado, current president of AMLO's party, MORENA. (I guess you suddenly won't care too much about FOBAPROA now.)
Fifth: Ho are you sure the money is going the right people? Despite AMLO prevent CONEVAL from doing its job (meassuring poverty), the INEGI still made sme job and they recorded an increase in poverty. The only conclusion is that this social spending ISN'T going to the poor people it was intented.
Sixth: What makes you think that all the intended money went to social spending? We know for a fact of dozens of cases of corruption and funds diversion: Bartlett, Ovalle, Ana Gabriela Guevara, Ackerman, Andy López Beltrán (on of AMLO's son), José Ramón (another AMLO son), Delfina, and more recently, Sheinbaum taking a share of government eployees wage for her campaing.
Seventh: The «whole world's economy» is getting back on track and we still have problems here (seriously: Who has'nt feel the increase in household spending? Even AMLO knows that the ony positive economic meassure he can bring are remittances and this have been recently related to cartels!)
Also: Maybe the pandemic wouldn't be that bad if we had a decent management, but we had López Gatell claiming that mask doesn't work and the presidente had «moral force» preventing him to contract COVID, Alcocer caliming that there was no need to vaccinate childres (almost any latinamerican country vaccinated more than Mexico) and AMLO himself claiming that it wasn't necessary to do lockdowns, that everbody should go outside and he was protected by religous amulets.

@adelatorremothelet
> he was 23 years old in 1995
I feel you misread this... Who do you think I was refering?
*> As I said, that money is well invested in social programs and not rescuing bankers. *
According to metrics by the same government, poverty has increased. Best case scenario for you, both policies are equally bad.
Also: In aditions to great policies... The whole AMLO package includes a refinery that still hasn't produces despite being inaugurated and that floods every year, promotion of baseball and funny things like the use of militry helicopter so a baseball team mascot could be in the oppening of the Mexican League or giving contracts to Rioboo who builted a airport runway that had to be rebuild because it didn't account for nearby hill or more tragic things like the spending in health and the shortage of medicines or the tragedy with the elevator in Quintana Roo last month.
> In both cases, the money is deposited in their bank account to avoid embezzling.
Do you think 10% of poorest people have bank accounts? (This also contributes to keep poor people poorer in relation to the people who get the handouts).
This is why when pensions in other programs are given, people is requested to be present in specific places in their local municipalities and sometimes show proof of life.
If anything, the fact that they deposit to a bank account without checking who has access or the persona is alive or even real, seems ideal for embezzling. And I remember you AMLO's problem with transparency and the sabotage of INAI since 2022.
> Mexico's gdp grew 3% in 2022
I hate when AMLO repeats this because the point of comparision is the lowest point in the pandemic. We barely grew compared to 2019 or 2018. (Remember the «Negative growth» from the first or second year?)
Rosa Icela from public security does something similar once a year in morning conferences: Close to the last third of the year she presents a graph or crime reduction using the HIGHEST month of the year to compare with the next two months, that obiously are lowe.
> The peso is stable
The USD is the one that has lost value to any other currency.
> by contrast with EPN
This was result of a devalutions of the CNY, but you can compare this to other currencies and Peña didn't do it that bad.
Also: We reach the all time high of 25 with AMLO.
> Arguably AMLO has been the only president that has not made things worse.
How you argue that?
What is the % growth of AMLO in that list?
What I can confirm is that the number is in an historical high (almos in 100 years, so you have to come back to the revolution). And the lowest point in AMLO period is higher than the highest in Calderón's 6 years (AMLO even reached Peña in just 4 years).
From here we have not only failed policies, but even failed promises, like the attemp to put a militar command in the National Guard, or the misuse of the NG to catch inmigrants from Central America and Haiti.
> I was quite surprised that Bukele's plan actually worked in El Salvador
Look at the numbers of homicides under Calderón: He was kind of downward curve the last year, but with García Luna there, who knows how much it was prevented from working.
