  2. ***** Mechanised warfare still exists, so why aren't people still dying in the millions?  Could it be anything to do with how nationalism faded out of fashion?  I think perhaps it coouuullllld~ Also, nation-states are every bit as unnatural as globalism.  But it worked because people got invested in making it work, and eventually people could not afford to NOT make it work.  The same will be true of our next stage of society.

  3. walperstyle I'm going to have to correct you there.  European countries have European culture, I've been to lots of them and I'm in a position to confirm this.  Next time, pick somewhere you can actually locate on a map before making things up.

  9. Bert Yes, there probably isn't a job for every refugee.. But there isn't much choice, there are millions of people who will simply die if the world doesn't help them.  It makes it hard for everybody, but hopefully things will pan out for the better in time.

  11. AugustusPugin The absolute disregard for immigrants that move here and the total lack of interest in spreading English amongst them isn't the fault of the EU.  That's on Westminster for not even trying to integrate people.

AugustusPugin There is nothing ancestral or genetic about being British.  I'm living proof, my family immigrated in a couple of generations ago, and not a single person in the country would ever think I wasn't British.  Are you going to deny the integration which occured? Come to think of it, isn't the whole concept of "British" as opposed to "English" or "Scottish" only a few hundred years old anyway?

AugustusPugin Pick an example of somebody you consider to be British.  Don't have to name them, just think of them.  I can promise you, with 100% certainty, that they have non-british ancestry.  We all do.  This island was originally uninhabited by people. And throughout history, Britain has had waves upon waves of immigrants and invaders, so who gets to be the "real" British in your eyes?  The Celts?  They're all dead!

  14. AugustusPugin And the Celts were descendants of who?  Why don't you define yourself as African, since that's where your first ancestor came from? I'm not trying to redefine British at all, I'm pointing out that there has never been a strict definition.  British always just meant "people from Britain", it didn't refer to any particular set of genes.

AugustusPugin And you don't think arbitrarily declaring yourself the judge of who is and who isn't British enough is unhelpful?  What if I said my family moved here in the 1700's?  Would I be British then? I haven't redefined anything, I'm merely taking your arguments at face value.  Perhaps there are more subtle genetic aspects I just don't know about.  Any particular genes that are unique to British people?

  16. AugustusPugin I'm not angry at all, but it's becoming increasingly clear you're not able to remain consistent in your own logic.  You say that people can't become British if they move here from other parts of the world, and yet your ancestors did exactly that.

AugustusPugin It's only possible to derive an IQ score from an IQ test, there is no way to get a score out of anything I have written.  Of course, it is just another insult, I can't help but notice you're putting a lot of those out now. There is no similarity to what I have said and your example of a table, since a table has a set definition that is consistent. Your definition of nationality on the other hand, is apparently self-contradictory.  I keep asking for clarification and all you do is spit insults and whine about pedantry.  I'll take your impotent ranting as an implicit concession.

AugustusPugin You can break a table and render it a non-table, this contradicts the definition of table how?  I don't recall saying that tables could never be changed or that things could never be changed into tables.  No, the delusion that things are unchanging is on your end, not mine. I never said that there is no "British character", I said that ancestry is not relevant.  The fact that you would never be able to deduce I have foreign heritage is proof enough of this.  Most Scots have Irish heritage due to the mass emigration which occured centuries ago, are you going to say they aren't British either?

  29. Bert Sounds like you've never lived in a dead area, it's just a simple fact that young people in rural places do not have a choice, and must move elsewhere to have a career. If I hadn't moved away, I'd probably still be on the dole, but what should I have done in your opinion?

  30. Bert And I'm trying to take what you said to its logical conclusion.  By making an area more populated, am I making it harder for others? Because the argument could be made that greater populations create more jobs.  Notice how that its hardest to find out in our sparsely populated areas.

The EU was the only thing between us and the dangerous elitists that run our nation. Cameron himself wanted to get rid of the human rights act, and now there's literally nothing stopping May from doing it.
