  1. Specifically, there's a bunch of required permitting for oceangoing vessels and he hasn't gotten any of those permits. I don't know enough to know if this system is really necessary or a good thing, but that's the mechanism that he runs afoul of. This system is international, and not really specific to the US.

  2. I am completely baffled at Blinken claiming that the Saudis are deeply invested in the plight of Palestinians. I could buy that the population might care about it to some extent, but the power structure certainly doesn't seem to give one crap about them.

  3. Because countries struggling with domestic troubles have never used invastions as a diversionary tactic? Not saying it will happen this time, but it's certainly happened many times.
