She seemed like such a loving mom. ❤

And she looks stunning in that orange red.

@88jeebs Yes, I understood the sentencing. It's extremely unlikely that he'll get out in 24 years. Very, very few convicts get out on the first try. Being in for murder makes those chances go WAY down.

There is no justice in cases like this.

Oh no. That's awful. 💔

He got life, not 24 years.

@PatrickBaptist "He needs prayer for sure." Statistics are the same with or without prayer. Prayer doesn't change anything. If it did, I would hope "God" wouldn't allow something like this to happen in the first place. This boy needs practical help, which might be a lost cause at this point. Sometimes people can change and sometimes they can't.

@88jeebs Hopefully, not. It seems like there are too many citizens who still believe in life sentences. Many still believe in capital punishment, but that has been done away with in certain states, as you know. I can't say I agree with vigilante justice, mostly because a lot of people would then decide to take things into their own hands. But, it is an understandable action. The idea of an eye for an eye could prevent some murderers from more future crimes.

@PatrickBaptist I wouldn't laugh at anyone. We all come from different backgrounds and experience different things which can effect our beliefs. I used to believe in the supernatural until it clicked one day and I realized all of those beliefs are man made. There is no evidence to support the supernatural, so there is no way to back up your claim. Of course we all believe different things, but now I base my beliefs on logic, reason and evidence.

@PatrickBaptist It's really unfortunate that we couldn't have had a better conversation. Your misunderstanding of the scientific term "theory" shows your ignorance on the subject. I don't mean that as an insult. I misunderstood it before I learned more about it. I just find it sad when people are not willing to look at anything that might cause them to question their beliefs. It's not always easy, but it's totally worth it.

Such a lack of empathy for them.

@PatrickBaptist "To think everything happened by accident/chance... isn't a good line of thinking." All this information is still fairly new to me. Unless I had learned all I have in the last 3 years, I wouldn't understand it as well as I do. You'd have to talk to a cosmologist or a biologist to understand how this is a reasonable and logical conclusion. It's all very fascinating. If you're interested, there are some really cool videos here on YouTube that might shed some light. Check out Sean Carroll. For evolution, Aron Ra is awesome and knows his stuff. The fact that science "changes" is actually a good thing and shows that as understanding grows, science evolves. Established scientific theories from the past are still true. Evolution, for example, has been proven and is now understood as fact. That wasn't the case until more evidence was found. I stopped seeing life as "intelligent" when I considered the millions upon millions of species that have gone extinct, the thousands and thousands of diseases we struggle with (especially without the aid of modern medicine), and crazy little things that just don't make sense (like why is the same tube used for breathing and swallowing? So many people and babies choke and die from that). I could go on forever, but I'll stop here. LOL

@kayladavis7140 She wasn't charged or convicted of being an accomplice. She was convicted of 2 counts of perjury.

Mom: This thing... is not who my son is... Well, he tied up, sexually assaulted, and murdered a 98 year old woman. It's not like he stole a pack of gum or cheated on a biology test.
